SMM Charitable Trust operates Mahatme Eye Bank & Eye Hospital, offering a wide spectrum of eye care services. These include Cataract and Phacoemulsification, Cornea and Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Pediatric ophthalmology & squint, Vitreoretinal Surgery, Oculoplasty, Dry eye treatment, Eye Bank and Keratoplasty (cornea transplantation), Cosmetic corneal tattooing, and community ophthalmology.

Approximately 60% of our patients receive complete treatment free of cost, including check-ups, medicines, investigations, and surgeries.

We're recognized by prestigious bodies like the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) and the Government of India for our surgical training centre. Our postgraduate institute trains DNB and DOMS candidates, offering fellowship programs and hands-on surgical training throughout the year.

Since 1986, we've performed over 2.2 Lac surgeries, with over 1.2 Lac needy patients operated on free of cost. Dr. Vikas Mahatme's dedication was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Hon. President of India in 2010.

OTA (Ophthalmic Technical Assistance) course:

• Designed for 10th and 12th-passed students.
• Affiliated with Nagpur University, providing a foundational understanding of ophthalmic technical assistance.

DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in Ophthalmology:

• Accredited by the National Board of Examinations under the Government of India.
• Offers a comprehensive program in ophthalmology, ensuring high-quality training and certification.

Long-Term Fellowships in Ophthalmology:

• Available in General Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Subspecialties.
• Offers specialised training and expertise in specific areas of ophthalmology, fostering advanced learning.

Surgical Training Center Recognition:

• Recognized by the Government of India for training eye surgeons to enhance surgical skills and expertise.
• Accredited for ICO (International Council of Ophthalmology) and IOFF (International Ophthalmological Fellowship Foundation) Fellowships.

Short-Term Surgery Training Programs:

• Offers intensive training programs spanning from 2 weeks to 3 months.
• Focuses on specific surgical techniques, enhancing proficiency in a shorter duration.

Wet Lab Training on Goat Eyes:

• Provides hands-on training using goat eyes, a valuable educational resource for practical learning in ophthalmic procedures.

Examination Center for ICO Assessment Examinations:

• Authorised examination centre for conducting ICO Assessment Examinations, assessing proficiency and knowledge in the field of ophthalmology.

Degree and Diploma in Optometry:

• Operates as a study center, offering comprehensive degree and diploma programs in optometry, nurturing aspiring optometrists with essential skills and knowledge.
